Internship applications are now closed

About the Illyria Pottery Internship:

Illyria Pottery offers a paid internship to those keen to gain experience in art retail, to train in the operation of a working ceramic studio, and to learn the craft from a professional potter.

Our next internship programme will run from September 2019 - February 2020.

Interns are offered work on a zero-hour contract. Generally, the work will be available for each intern at one day (7 hours) per week. Work schedules will vary from month to month but will be confirmed during the last week of the month prior. Interns will be paid at the beginning of each calendar month for previous month's hours. All interns will be paid the National Minimum Wage at £7.83.

In addition to hourly wages, interns are offered an exclusive benefit – the opportunity to book “Masterclass” tuition. On Monday evenings from 5:45-10:00 interns may choose to develop their own work with clay. Artist and owner, Katie Coston (B.A. Art Education, M.A. Three-Dimensional Studio Art), teaches wheel-throwing and hand-building techniques (basic, intermediate, and advanced) and offers glazing instruction and advice on firing in a class exclusively available to interns. This is a completely unique opportunity as the Masterclass is the only class that Katie Coston teaches. The "Masterclass" will be offered at a discounted price to all interns at a rate of £265 per month (£600- full price). The Masterclass sessions will have to be booked in advance. Please note that due to a high volume of applications, we only consider applicants, who can attend the Masterclass sessions.
