Two week Mug-Making Workshop - Saturday 1st & 8th July, 11am - 1pm.
£95This two-week course with guest illustrator and ceramicist Nicola Fielding is perfect for complete beginners and improvers. You will be taught how to work with clay to build your very own set of mugs by hand, exploring decorative techniques and using them to illustrate your creations. In the first session, you will be introduced to clay and the handbuilding techniques required to build the basic structure of your mugs. There will be a demonstration and plenty of opportunity to practice and develop your ideas. We will discuss decorative techniques including the use of imprinted texture, slip painting and paper-resist. In the next session, your work will have dried, allowing you to add a handle to each mug and refine and decorate. Again, guidance is given throughout the process with plenty of room for creativity and exploration. Please feel free to bring along ideas and reference images if you like, and we will have plenty of examples on hand for inspiration. The fee is inclusive of tuition, clay, glazes, and kiln space needed for the two firings necessary to complete the pieces created. Please note that, once booked, any sessions missed are forfeited. We are unable to rebook any missed sessions.
